The Fremantle class patrol boat HMAS BENDIGO, was commissioned. BENDIGO was laid down at North Queensland EA, Cairns, QLD, and launched on 9 May 1983. Mrs Lynam, (Wife of RADM D. F. Lynam), performed the launching ceremony.
