SNO Victoria & C/O of Cerberus - an update on today’s navy

Our speaker at our July meeting will be Captain Sheldon Williams RAN.

Captain Williams is C/O of HMAS Cerberus and is our SNO in Victoria.

Captain Williams is a Supply Officer by specialisation and joined the Navy in 1977. His initial sea going postings included training in HMA ships Melbourne,Torrens and Stalwart. A highlight of this period was Torren’s tasking of escort ship to HMY Brittiania during the Royal visit in 1981. Later sea postings have included HMAS Darwin, Deputy Supply Officer of the Commissioning Crew and Supply Officer of HMAS Sydney, deployment to the Gallipoli 75th Anniversary, a world circumnavigation in 1990, and operations against Iraq in the first Gulf War.

Captain Williams will tell us of these highlights and of his career to date, his role in Victoria, and will bring us up to speed on today’s Navy by showing us some fantastic DVDs.

We greatly value our association with HMAS Cerberus and are delighted that Captain Williams will be with us.
