Captain Tim Standen joined the RAN as an Apprentice Air Technical Communication sailor at the age of 16.
Over the next 37 years he progressed through the ranks, becoming a WO in 1998. As Assistant Aviation Engineer Officer in 817 squadron, he served in the Interfet intervention in East Timor. He found the Interfet deployment particularly rewarding because of the immediate and visible beneficial effect realised for the people of East Timor at the time. Commissioned to the rank of LEUT. in January 2003, he progressed through the ranks, achieving the rank of Captain in February 2016. Captain Standen’s most recent post was Director Maritime Safety Review.
Delighted to be coming to HMAS Cerberus for a three year posting, this gathering will give Tim the chance to meet up with the Navy family, and for us a meet and greet opportunity whilst hearing about his very interesting career to date.
The' Warramunga Restaurant' opens at 5.30 pm and a number of us will take the opportunity of enjoying a nice meal, plus a few drinks before the meeting. Know that you are very welcome to join us! Our actual meeting is in the well appointed 'Sunset room'.
We of the NHS are a friendly bunch of folk and there is a warm welcome awaiting you should you care to join us. The meeting is open to kindred Naval organisations , the general public at large, and the Waverley RSL community.
The Waverley RSL is conveniently situated opposite the station in Glen Waverley. The car park is free, but you need to display a ticket on your dashboard.
