Tales from the Museum – ‘the Nestor bell’
Mon 24 Jun, 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Glen Waverley, VIC Australia + Google Map
Our Marty Grogan has recently retired as Manager of our HMAS CERBERUS Museum, and not only is he an excellent speaker, he is also a font of knowledge on the collection owing to his extensive research on the artefacts of the museum, undertaken over the ten years of his tenure.
One such artefact is the ships bell from our ‘N’ class destroyer, HMAS Nestor. The Nestor story is brief but fascinating. It involves Artic Convoys, HMS Hood, Bismark and a battle for survival in the Med. One of Marty’s close friends, LCDR Ken Brown was actually sunk in her!.
Join us on June 24 when Marty will recount both Ken’s story and that of his proud ship and crewmates!
The Waverley RSL is conveniently situated opposite the station in Glen Waverley, and the RSL Car park is free but you need to display a ticket on you dashboard.(obtainable from reception)
The Warramunga restaurant opens at 5.30 and a number of us take the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal before the meeting in the Sunset Room. You are very welcome to join us. We need to book tables, so please email or phone our secretary, Rodney Phillips on 0466 983 313, or email@example.com by the Friday prior.
