WA Chapter – Monthly Meeting with Guest Speaker Commodore Brett Dowsing, RAN, ret’d “The Board of Enquiry into the Sea King Helicopter Crash.”
Mon 21 Feb, 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Claremont, Western Australia 6010 Australia + Google Map
The topic for the talk at 6pm on Monday February 21st is:
“The Board of Enquiry into the Sea King Helicopter Crash.”
It is about the overview of the processes undertaken following the crash of the Royal Australian Navy Sea King helicopter on April 2nd 2005, during humanitarian operations in Indonesia. Four crew men and nine medical personnel were killed, and there were two survivors.
The talk is being given by Commodore Brett Dowsing, RAN, ret’d, who is the Vice President of the NHS-WA Chapter.
Since joining in 1969, Brett served in the Navy as a seaman officer and helicopter pilot for his entire career. He has enjoyed a variety of operational, policy and international postings both on the Australian station and overseas. His final posting in the Navy was as a Commodore serving as Senior Officer WA.
With the crash of Navy Sea King “Shark 02” and the loss of nine lives on 2 April 2005 in Indonesia, Brett served on the Inquiry into the accident for two years. This was the most expansive, costly and transparent inquiry conducted by Defence to date and was to have enormous impact professionally, culturally, and safety-wise, across the organisation.
The NHS-WA Chapter talk is on Monday February 21st at 6:00pm at the Claremont Lawn Tennis Club, Shenton Road, Claremont. Parking is at the Tennis Club and in the public car park opposite Foodies on Davies Road. There is a $5 Admin fee, and the exact amount would be appreciated. There is a cash bar open before and after the talk. To attend, you must register with the Secretary, Dr Heather Rogers, email@example.com, or Mobile: 0407-912-781.
