Photograph shows U.S.S. KEPPLER in U.S. Navy Service. KEPPLER at this time was a converted gearing DD-710 class FRAM II destroyer and was armed with:
GUNNERY ARMAMENT: 4×5″/38 cal. (127mm) Mk 12 Mod. 1 gun barrels disposed in 2 Mk 38 mounts with a muzzle velocity of 792 m/sec with the rate of fire 18 rounds/min/barrel with a well trained crew. Weight of projectile: 25 kg.
FIRE CONTROL: Mk 37 director with Mk 25 radar.
ASW ARMAMENT: 1/Mk 15 trainable Hedgehog – 6/324mm Mk 32 ASW TT
RADAR: 1/SPS-10, 1/SPS-6B
MACHINERY: 2 sets geared turbines, 2 props: 60,000hp.
BOILERS: This particular gearing class ship has 2 BABCOX & WILCOX, & 2 FOSTER-WHEELER: 43.3kg/CM2-454C.

KEPPLER was transferred on 30.6.72 to the Republic of Turkey. Since being transferred two single 40mm AA have been mounted on the former DASH drone ASW helo deck (in 1974) along with 2 twin 40mm/60 CAC Mk1 mounts US pattern BOFORS (controlled by Mk 51 Mod 2 directors) located on 01 level between stacks in 1977. Also added in Turkish Naval Services was 1/Mk9 depth charge rack.
